Countdown is Started for 1st Recovery Congress

1st National Recovery Congress and Show which will be organized by Uşak University – Engineering Faculty will be held on May 2-4 2012. The basic subjects of the event that its countdown has been started are recovery in textile, machine, food, structure, biotechnology and vehicle technology. There will be presentation about ‘Herbal and Animal Recovery’ under the textile subject. The event will witness presentations and discussing related with security of environment and natural resources, providing energy efficiency and saving, recovering economy by decreasing the amount of waste, the system, management and technologies developed for benefiting in maximum level from existing resources for a sustainable future.

Prof. Dr. Yalçın Bozkurt, Dean of Faculty of Engineering at Uşak University, who is a member of the organizing committee of the congress, has said that securing recovery natural resources, providing energy saving, simplifying and decreasing the amount of waste are important in terms of the elimination process. Bozkurt who has said Uşak becomes a center for recovery, has explained “Textile trash and waste, Pet bottles, metal waste and automobile tires which come from internal and international regions, are evaluated in Uşak and contributed to the economy once again. This sector provides employment for 3,000 people”

Bozkurt has said under recovery of textile sector, garment wastes can be used as felts in the bed and automotive industry and the acrylic wastes from jumpers can be used in second quality plush blankets, weaving and knitting yarns after they are turned into fiber. Bozkurt who has emphasized recovery becomes an independent sector nowadays, kept his words by saying “This sector allows re-evaluation of the restricted raw material. In beside, it contributes to clean and green environment. In this context, Uşak has a great potential in the application of raw material and energy recovery”.

20 million Ton Waste is Generated, 50% can be Recovered

Bozkurt who has indicated every year a total of 11-12 million ton home wastes are generated, has said a total of 19-20 million ton wastes are generated with industrial waste beside of that. Bozkurt who has said glass, metal, plastic, paper and carton are recoverable items in home waste, has emphasized 50 percentage of this product can be evaluated. Bozkurt who has said natural resources can be saved with the application of recovery, has explained successful studies are conducted in terms of energy recovery.

Bozkurt who has said 4.37 percentages of industrial solid waste amounts are generated from textile and garment products, has explained this sector generates nearly 5.4501 ton waste in our country. Bozkurt; “solid wastes such as bobbin patron, zipper and button beside of solid waste based on textile and garment take part in recovery process. Out 7.907 of 54.501 ton waste generated in the sector is recovered and reproduced.  Garment wastes used in technical fields such as felts in the bed and automotive industry, the acrylic wastes from jumpers can be used in second quality plush blankets, weaving and knitting yarns after they are turned into fiber. 46 percent of textile and garment waste still goes to waste. For that reason, we have many jobs to do in this field”.
