Taypa To Make Investments To The Textile Centre of the Balkans

Taypa has accelerated its efforts to become one of the top five producers of the world in textile and apparel industry. In addition to its ongoing domestic investments, Taypa continues to make investments in abroad.

Taypa, one of the Thai Group companies that makes productions together with about 2,500 people in Egypt and prepares to start producing with Tayal SPA in Algeria, has finalised the formalities to new textile investment it has planned in Serbia. Within the scope of the visit paid President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Serbia and according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Serbian Economy Minister Goran Knezevic and Thai Group Chairman Mesut Toprak, Taypa shall establish a apparel and garment factory in Serbia's Kraljevo city and will invest 35 million EUR within 5 year. Nearly 2,500 people will be employed in the factory.

Kraljevo, who will be the address for Taypa's new investment, stands for its close location to international transportation networks while it is located about 160 kilometres south of Belgrade.

Europe and Eastern Mediterranean's Largest Textile Production Facility For Algeria

Tayal SPA, which has been established with the partnership of Thai Group and Algeria State, leaving 40 years behind in textile industry, is preparing to establish the largest textile production facility of the Europe and Eastern Mediterranean basin with the Organized Textile Industrial Zone at Sdi Khettap industrial zonein  Algeri's Ghilizan District.

Thanks to this facility, it is aimed to make a great contribution to the Algerian economy that imports 90 percent of its textile needs and to turn Algeria into an international brand in textile field. Organized Textile Industry Zone, which will be built on 250 hectares of land by Tayal SPA, will be composed of 8 units.

In the first stage, which will be completed by the end of 2018, 10 thousand people are intended to be employed and a total of 25 thousand people intended to be employed later in 10 years. Aiming to produce 30 million meters of denim fabric, 15 million meters of gabardine and shirt fabric, 5 thousand tons of knitted fabric and 30 million pieces of garments annually when the first stage of the textile campus is completed, Tayal SPA plans to provide an annual contribution of 300 million dollars to the Algerian economy. Estimated $300 million contribution to the Algerian economy at the first stage is expected to reach $1 billion when the ten-year project has been finally completed. 40 percent of the production will meet the demand of the Algerian market while the rest will be exported.

Making Production To World Leading Companies

Manufacturing in a closed area of 70 thousand square meters in 4 different locations in the country today, Taypa has 3 thousand personnel and exports to 50 countries. Having finished the year 2016 with a turnover of 95 million EUR and made exports worth of 81 million EUR, the Company also exports its products to widely recognised brands such as Levi's, Tommy Hilfiger, Uniqlo, Calvin Klein, Inditex, Massimo Dutti and Dockers.
