İDMİB Brings Exporters Closer to Global Brands

These organizations, carried out across a wide geography from the Middle East to Europe, and from Japan to the United States, provide exporting companies with the opportunity to establish direct business connections. Through buyer delegations, firms are enabled to engage face-to-face with the right buyers, laying the groundwork not only for short-term orders but also for long-term and sustainable commercial relationships. This approach stands out as a strategic tool that strengthens the sector’s position in international markets.

Direct and efficient engagement in sectoral collaborations
Buyer delegations covering product groups such as footwear, leather goods, leather apparel, and tannery products bring Turkish manufacturers together with the purchasing teams of global brands on the same platform. These organizations create a foundation for companies to present their products directly and develop tangible business partnerships.

In addition, within the scope of sectoral trade delegations, exporting companies are taken to target markets, and commercial relations are deepened through on-site bilateral meetings. This holistic structure strengthens the sector’s position in the global value chain while also increasing its competitiveness. İDMİB Chairman Güven Karaca stated that these organizations are not limited to the search for new markets, emphasizing that they aim to establish more permanent and stronger relationships in existing markets. Karaca underlined that buyer and trade delegations enhance the sector’s global competitiveness and play a significant role in the transition to a higher value-added export structure.

Intensive contact traffic in the first months of the year
Since the beginning of the year, important buyer groups from different markets have been hosted in Türkiye as part of these organizations. At the end of January, the purchasing team of NESTO, one of the leading retail chains in the Middle East, met with Turkish companies in Istanbul, while representatives of the British brand Burberry held meetings with companies operating in leather product groups.

In February, many Turkish companies conducted bilateral business meetings within the scope of the buyer delegation organized with Poland-based PAWO. During the Japan buyer delegation event, more than 100 one-on-one meetings were held, establishing significant contacts for the Far East market. In the same period, the special qualified buyer delegation organized with the US-based global brand Ariat also stood out among the noteworthy events for the sector.

Expansion into new markets continues
İDMİB plans to continue its buyer delegation and sectoral trade delegation organizations at full speed in the upcoming period. It is planned to host buyer delegations from the United States, Canada, Chile, and South Africa in Türkiye, while trade delegations targeting Russia, Dubai, Canada, and the United States are also on the agenda. Through these organizations, the Association aims to facilitate exporters’ access to new markets and strengthen their positions in existing ones.
