The Swedish Textile Machinery Association (TMAS) member BW Converting is preparing to introduce its new technology that will revolutionize textile dyeing processes. The company will present the Baldwin TexChroma™ digital spray dyeing system to the industry at the ITMA Asia + CITME exhibition to be held in Singapore.
BW Converting Textile Sales Leader Yiannis Vasilonikolos emphasized the importance of this innovation by saying, “TexChroma will be the dyeing technology of the future. Thanks to spray dyeing, our customers are already gaining significant benefits. We have conducted successful trials with pigment, reactive, acid, and disperse dyes on both cotton and synthetic fibers.”
Savings of Up to 50% in Energy and Chemical Use
According to current production data, TexChroma provides more than 30% savings compared to traditional continuous pad-batch dyeing, and up to 50% compared to exhaust reactive dyeing. One of the most striking innovations is the mixing of reactive dyestuffs with alkali fixation chemicals just seconds before application. In this way, common problems in dyehouses such as uneven dye application and color variations are completely eliminated.
From TexCoat® G4 Success to TexChroma
TexChroma is a continuation of BW Converting’s TexCoat® G4 finishing system, which has achieved great success in recent years. Vice President of Global Business Development for Textiles Rick Stanford said: “We initially expanded TexCoat G4 technology in Europe and the USA. In the past two years, however, we have sold 35 units in Asia. The demand from our customers showed that there was also a need for a similar technology in the dyeing process.”
The first TexChroma will be installed at a well-known continuous dyer in Italy and will undergo industrial testing before being introduced into serial production. One of TexChroma’s biggest contributions will be reducing the frequent rework needs in dyehouses. Stanford said: “The dyeing process is unforgiving, and we must get it right the first time. The market has been ready for a long time, and now, so are we.”
