Swiss-based textile brand Fischbacher 1819 will present the carpet series of its Silk Road collection as part of Milan Design Week 2026. The collection has been developed in collaboration with Zollanvari, a third-generation Iranian-origin carpet manufacturer. Inspired by the history of the Silk Road, trade culture, and craft traditions, the collection reflects a strong narrative approach. The designs, created by the Fischbacher 1819 atelier, consist of four different models associated with Persian mythology and the narratives of the Shahnameh. Wool sourced from the Zagros Mountains is used in the carpets, while both hand-knotting and flat-weaving techniques are applied in production. The colors are achieved using natural pigments derived from sources such as indigo, pomegranate, walnut, and madder root.
Emphasis on Craft and Cultural Heritage
The production process is carried out using traditional methods with the contribution of women from Afshar, Luri, and Qashqai communities. In this respect, the carpets are positioned not only as design products but also as carriers of cultural heritage. The collection will be presented to visitors at the Fischbacher 1819 Brera showroom in Milan between April 20–26, 2026. The new collection is considered a continuation of the brand’s efforts to bring together traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary design approach.
