FET, operating in the field of technical textile technologies, has been honoured with the “New Production Technology” award at the Techtextil Innovation Award 2026 thanks to its newly developed gel spinning system. Presented by an international jury of experts, the award highlights innovative solutions in textile technology, sustainability and technical textiles.
A new approach to UHMWPE production
The newly developed FET-500 Series enables the small-scale and rapid gel spinning production of UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) yarns. One of the most remarkable aspects of the system is its ability to carry out production without the need for the toxic solvents commonly used in conventional processes.
Designed to support R&D processes
According to FET, the new technology is expected to open the way for R&D and product development activities that have so far been limited due to the high-cost and large-scale nature of UHMWPE yarn production. The system is also expected to provide advantages in terms of production space, cost and environmental impact. FET Managing Director Richard Slack stated that the award represents an important recognition of the company’s technology-focused efforts.
