Spain-based Textil A. Ortiz is strengthening its leadership in the field of premium lining fabrics in Europe through investments aimed at resource efficiency and environmental excellence. Celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2024, the company has expanded its production capacity with the installation of a fourth Monforts Montex stenter line at its plant in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, north of Barcelona.
Strong Partnership with Monforts
Ortiz’s cooperation with Monforts and its local representative Aguilar & Pineda dates back to the 1970s. Today, the company operates three production facilities and continues to reinforce its competitiveness in the global market with its Montex investments. Santa Perpètua de Mogoda plant manager Xavier Mundet states:
“To remain competitive in this sector, it is essential to continuously invest in innovation, design, and the latest technology. For the major brands we work with, fast service, superior quality, and affordable prices are indispensable. We have always trusted Monforts and have been very satisfied with the performance of our existing Montex stenters.”
Next-Generation Technology: Montex 8500-9F
The newly installed nine-chamber Montex 8500-9F line has a nominal width of 200 cm. It is equipped with direct gas heating, a Hercules chain system, a Matex finishing padder, and two heat exchangers. With its heat recovery system and the Monformatic Professional measuring and control technology, energy consumption is minimized, while consistent and reproducible fabric quality is ensured.
Environmental Excellence: Zero-Discharge Production
With its new treatment plant operating through evaporation and condensation, Textil A. Ortiz has become the first dyeing and finishing company not to discharge water into the public sewerage system. In addition, the company has:
- Invested in new circular knitting machines,
- Expanded production with lining fabrics based on recycled polyester,
- Installed 15,000 m² of photovoltaic panels and two wind turbines to supply the Santa Perpètua de Mogoda plant with 100% green energy.
40% Energy Savings in Efficiency
Oriol Canet, Sales Manager at Aguilar & Pineda, highlighted the remarkable energy savings achieved with the new machines, stating:
“Monforts machines are continuously updated for resource efficiency. With the latest Montex lines, energy savings of up to 40% can be achieved compared to conventional machines without heat recovery or optimization systems.”
The Importance of Sustainability and Local Service
Company executive Abel Ortiz summarized their environmentally friendly production approach as follows:
“Local service and sustainability are increasingly valued today. Thanks to reliable technology providers like Monforts, we are able to make further progress in these areas.”
