Yarn and Fibre Industry Meets in Shanghai

Bringing together around 600 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, the fair will present industry professionals with a broad product range extending from synthetic and regenerated fibres to cotton, silk, linen, cashmere and wool across 27,000 sqm. This year’s agenda will highlight high-performance fibres, sustainable raw materials, functional yarns and next-generation textile materials.

Shanghai, one of the global textile industry’s key production and sourcing centres, is preparing to host one of the yarn and fibre sector’s major gatherings in late August. Held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Yarn Expo Autumn 2026 stands out not only as a sourcing fair showcasing current collections and products, but also as a platform where the technological transformation taking place in fibres and yarns can be followed. Spread across 27,000 sqm in Hall 8.2, the fair will feature around 600 exhibitors in seven product and specialist zones. Ranging from chemical fibres and fancy yarns to cotton, silk and linen, and from cashmere and wool to functional and sustainable yarns, this structure will enable buyers from different production fields to examine developments at the first link of the supply chain under one roof. The fair is expected to respond strongly in particular to the search for new materials developing around sustainability, performance and functionality.

More than 260 producers in chemical fibres

Chemical Fibre Zone will be one of the largest sections of Yarn Expo Autumn. Featuring more than 260 exhibitors, the zone will form one of the focal points for new material and technology developments in the synthetic fibre sector. High-performance materials will take centre stage in an area that will also feature leading Chinese synthetic fibre producers including Fujian Cyclone Technology, Shenghong Group and Huafon Chemical. In the fibre sector, competition is no longer based solely on production capacity or price; product functionality, environmental performance and the added value a product can provide for different textile applications are also fundamental elements. For this reason, innovations to be showcased in the Chemical Fibre Zone will be among the fair’s closely watched areas not only for yarn producers, but also for fabric, apparel and technical textile manufacturers.

New season preparations in fancy yarns

With around 100 suppliers, the Fancy Yarn Zone will offer a product structure more closely aligned with fashion and collection development. The section, featuring producers such as Jiaxing Xiyue Textile Technology, Yulin Yuefang Bleaching And Dyeing and Wuxi Zhonghuai Textile, will showcase fancy and special-effect yarns for upcoming seasonal collections. As product differentiation in the fashion industry increasingly begins at the material stage, the importance of fancy yarn producers in the collection development process is growing. Yarns developed through colour, surface, texture and different fibre combinations are becoming one of the starting points for new collections for fabric producers and design teams.

Sustainable materials and dyeing solutions to stand out in cotton

Alongside synthetic and fancy yarns, natural fibres will also be an important part of Yarn Expo Autumn. Cotton Yarn Zone will bring together over 60 exhibitors. The section, featuring producers such as Jiangsu Dasheng Group and Zhoukou Shengtai Textile, will highlight cotton yarns alongside sustainable raw materials and innovations in dyeing. In the cotton supply chain, traceability, raw material sourcing, resource use in production and demand for certified products have become more decisive in recent years. This transformation is creating a structure where yarn producers compete not only through product quality and yarn count variety, but also through production processes and the environmental characteristics of raw materials. In this respect, Cotton Yarn Zone will be an area where traditional cotton yarn production meets new sustainability expectations.

Silk, linen, cashmere and wool among the fair’s strong segments

Product diversity in natural and high value-added fibre groups will continue in Linen and Silk Yarn Zones and Cashmere and Wool Yarn Zone. Around 20 specialist companies, including Jiangsu Tengyuan Textile and Dashiqiao Silk Spinning Factory, will present premium yarns developed from silk, linen and different blends of these fibres. The Cashmere and Wool Yarn Zone will feature around 10 exhibitors. The section will showcase products using semi-worsted, worsted and carded spinning techniques. In particular, blending natural fibres with different fibres, developing lighter and more functional products, and taking traditional raw materials into new areas of use form an important part of product development in these segments.

An international sourcing network in Shanghai

Alongside Yarn Expo Autumn’s strong position in China’s domestic market, international participation remains an important feature of the fair. The International Zone will bring producers from Africa, Asia and Europe together with Chinese and international buyers. Companies operating in different product groups, such as Egyptian Co For Flax And Its Products, Indorama Ventures, Toray Industries Inc and The Lurex Company, will take part in this section. The geographical diversity of international participation will be more visible in the fair’s country and regional pavilions.

India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Taiwan join with dedicated zones

Organised by TEXPROCIL, the India Pavilion will bring India’s strength in cotton yarn production to Shanghai. Producers such as Excel Enterprise, Texperts India Pvt and S.P.Yarns will present sustainable cotton yarns alongside carded and combed yarns. The Pakistan Zone will feature companies such as Ihsan Cotton Products, NV Tex Sourcing and Xiamen Naseem. Blended yarns and certified organic products are expected to stand out in the section. In recent years, Uzbekistan has strengthened its textile position through investments to transform raw materials into higher value-added products within the country, alongside cotton production. Organised by the Agency for the Development of Light Industry under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan Pavilion will feature around eight suppliers showcasing high-quality raw cotton and ring-spun yarns. The Taiwan Zone will stand out with products offering enhanced functional and technical properties. In the area featuring Sun Yarn Textile, Tah Lee Textile & Tah Yao Textile, functional blends, high-tenacity yarns and sustainable cellulosic fibres will be presented to visitors. This structure will also allow comparison of solutions from different production centres in the same product group at Yarn Expo Autumn.

Next-generation fibres on the fair’s agenda

One important section of Yarn Expo Autumn 2026 beyond its product exhibition will be the Tongkun – China Fibre Fashion Trends Display Zone. The area will showcase high-tech and environmentally friendly synthetic fibres developed by China’s fibre industry. While visitors can examine new products up close, a forecast report on next season’s colour, material and design directions will also be announced at a press event. For fibre producers, the convergence of fashion trends and technological development processes stands out. The market success of a new fibre is now determined not only by its technical performance, but also by how well it meets the needs of the design and fashion world. The trend area will therefore be a section where the link between fibre technologies and final product development processes can be seen.

Smart textiles and sustainable materials to be discussed

The New Fibre New World – Textile Materials Innovation Activities programme at the fair will focus on longer-term developments concerning the future of the industry. Events attended by academics, corporate R&D managers and industry representatives will assess the development direction of smart textiles, next-generation fibres and sustainable textile materials. In the textile industry, the intersection of materials science and digital technologies is creating new fields of work for fibre and yarn producers. Functionalised fibres, textile materials that respond to different conditions of use and raw materials with a lower environmental impact are gaining greater weight on the industry’s R&D agenda.

Innovations to be heard directly from producers in 11 product presentations

The fair’s technical programme will feature 11 separate product presentations. In these sessions, exhibitors will present the performance characteristics, technical details and application areas of their newly developed yarns and fibres directly to industry professionals. These presentations will enable yarn, weaving, knitting, fabric and apparel producers seeking new materials to evaluate products by their technical characteristics rather than only viewing them at stands. Yarn Expo Autumn will thus serve not only as a fair for business meetings, but also as an information platform through which new raw materials and material technologies are introduced to the industry.

Textile supply chain to meet under one roof

A key advantage of Yarn Expo Autumn will be the broad industry gathering created with other textile fairs held on the same dates. Yarn Expo Autumn will be held concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition, CHIC and PH Value. Different links in the textile value chain, from fibres and yarns to fabrics and accessories, and from knitted products to apparel and fashion, will therefore come together at the National Exhibition and Convention Center. The concurrent fairs will allow international buyers to reach different sourcing groups in a single visit, while giving yarn and fibre producers an opportunity to introduce their products directly to manufacturers at subsequent stages of the value chain.

Around 600 exhibitors, seven specialised product zones

The picture presented by Yarn Expo Autumn 2026, held from 25–27 August, also shows the areas towards which competition in the yarn and fibre industry is moving. While traditional raw materials such as cotton, wool, cashmere, linen and silk maintain their presence, high-performance synthetics, regenerated and cellulosic fibres, functional blends and sustainable production solutions are growing rapidly. The fair will bring together around 600 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions across 27,000 square metres, presenting these different production approaches on the same platform. With seven specialised product zones, international pavilions, trend areas, technical presentations and new product launches, Yarn Expo Autumn 2026 is preparing to become one of the global yarn and fibre industry’s important meeting points ahead of the new season.
