UTMÖK’s This Year’s Stop is Kahramanmaraş

The National Textile Engineering Student Congress (UTMÖK), which is traditionally organized every year by a university’s textile engineering department, will be held by Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University (KSÜ) this year. The 9th edition of UTMÖK, which is going to organized by the KSÜ Textile Cummunity, will bring the academics and the secor representatives on May 5-7 in Kahramanmaraş. Approximately 700 students, more than 100 academics and many sector representatives participated the 8th edition of the event, held on April 23-25, 2011, in Ege University. Textil Dünyası continues to give support to the event just like it did last year.

The students from 13 different textile engineering departments in Turkey participate in the national congress held that has been held every year since 2004. Congress hosts nearly 600 textile engineer candidates, 200 businessmen and textile engineers in general. Academics from Turkey and abroad, businessmen, fashion designers and experts take place among the panelists of the event. Recent developments in the textile technologies, the future of the textile sector and expectations form the textile engineering are discussed in the sessions of the congress. Prof. Dr. Ali Demir, President of OSYM, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Ulçay, Kemal Karaküçük, President of KTSO and Hüseyin Cevahiroğlu, Vice General Manager of Hassan Group are among the panelists whose participation have been confirmed.

The aim of the congress is to get the textile engineering students together in a platform, where they can exchange ideas with their colleagues and the leader businessmen of the sector, to help the politicians, businessmen, academicians, engineers and students that may play role in the development of the industry, by bringing them together to present their views and opinions and to help the national and international promotion of the city, university and the industry of the region. In addition to Prof. Dr. Ali Demir, President of OSYM and academics from Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University, Bursa Technical University, Namık Kemal University, Çukurova University and Erciyes University, the advisory Committee of the congress includes managers from the companies such as KTSO, CMS Tekstil, Teknomelt Mensucat, Kipaş Spinning, Balsuyu Mensucat, İSKUR Spinning, MODENA Mensucat, Dokuboy Factory, AS-KON Industrial Machines, Kipaş Weaving, Arıkan Mensucat.
