The Future of Fiber Technologies to Be Discussed at Dornbirn GFC 2026

Sustainable materials, circular economy practices, textile recycling, and high-performance fiber technologies will be among the prominent topics at the event to be held on September 17, 2026. The program highlights textile-to-textile polyester recycling, selective depolymerization technologies, and solutions aimed at improving efficiency in recycling processes. In particular, applications developed for the reuse of polyester and studies related to the utilization of textile waste will be addressed in line with the sector’s sustainability goals.

Next-Generation Fiber Development Studies to Be Presented

Within the forum, high-performance aramid fibers, biodegradable technical yarn components, and functional cellulosic fiber solutions will also be presented to industry representatives. Studies focused on sustainable and high value-added materials are expected to create new areas of application in textile and technical textile products. Among the projects included in the program are next-generation fibers developed through a blue bioeconomy approach, cotton-based materials with preserved structural properties, and functional solutions designed for different performance requirements. These studies are expected to contribute to improving product performance while supporting the use of sustainable raw materials.

Innovation Award to Find Its Winner

As part of the Innovation Day & Forum, companies and research organizations will introduce their technologies through stage presentations. The presentations will be evaluated by a jury consisting of industry experts together with participants, and the most innovative project will be honored with the Dornbirn GFC Innovation Day & Forum Award 2026.

During the 65th Dornbirn GFC, to be held in Dornbirn, Austria, on September 16-18, 2026, 100 technical presentations will be organized over three days. The CEO panel, workshops, the Thinkathon event for young researchers, and the Lenzing Young Scientist Award program will also be among the prominent sections of the congress. With sessions focusing on natural fibers, the ReHubs initiative, academia-industry collaborations, and sustainable production technologies, Dornbirn GFC 2026 is expected to host important discussions on the future of the fiber and textile industry.
