Kahramanmaraş hosted an important event that brought together global players of the cotton and textile industry. The 2nd Turkey Workshop, organized in partnership with the Kahramanmaraş Industrialists’ and Businesspeople’s Association (KASİAD) and the International Cotton Association (ICA), welcomed leading figures of the business world for two days. The event drew attention not only for knowledge sharing but also for laying the foundations of future collaborations.

Strategic Partnership and High Participation

The workshop, held at the Ramada Hotel, was attended by representatives from more than 30 companies. Important figures such as ICA Vice President Pierre Chehab, ICA Secretary General Bill Kongdon, ICA Business Operations Manager Robert Jiang, KASİAD Chairman of the Board İsmail Dinçer, and ICA Board Member İsmail Nohutlu took part in the opening speeches. The high level of participation reflected the interest in Turkey’s role in global cotton trade.

Kahramanmaraş’s Resilience and Production Strength

In his opening remarks, Pierre Chehab emphasized Turkey’s central position in exports and production, noting that Kahramanmaraş is a strong player not only regionally but also globally. KASİAD Chairman İsmail Dinçer highlighted the resilience and determination of the business community despite the challenges faced by the textile industry. Dinçer pointed out that the experience gained in cotton and yarn production gives hope for the future.

The Critical Importance of Trade Rules

The main agenda of the workshop was international rules in cotton and textile trade. In the training sessions delivered by experts from the UK and Switzerland, it was emphasized that companies in the sector must be familiar with ICA rules in order to ensure the reliability of trade. ICA and KASİAD Board Member İsmail Nohutlu underlined the significance of this framework by saying: “Embracing the rules is not only about avoiding mistakes, but also about securing the return on our labor and investments.” The workshop was considered an important step for Turkey in developing a vision aligned with the global market in the cotton and textile sector. The exchange of ideas among participants provided a valuable platform for new cooperation opportunities, as well as for strengthening commercial transparency and sustainability.
