Botanica Reveals New Season Textile Approaches

Filo, the international exhibition dedicated to yarns and textile materials, has shared its new product development proposals for its 66th edition under the “Botanica” concept. Developed by fabric designer Rossano Bisio, the project brings together inspiring design approaches and new-season directions for the textile industry. More than simply a trend presentation, the Botanica video released by Filo offers a comprehensive perspective on the product development process, ranging from yarns to fabrics and from surface applications to final products. According to the organisers, the project aims to present creative and practical ideas that can help the textile and fashion industries regain momentum under current market conditions.

A Symbol of Rebirth and Transformation

Federica Bazzani, a member of Filo’s management team, states that the Botanica concept symbolises a process of rebirth and recovery for the textile and fashion industries. The concept brings together innovation and traditional textile expertise, aesthetic values and technical content, as well as sustainability and industrial practicality under a single framework.According to Bazzani, Botanica also represents an important part of the ongoing dialogue that Filo maintains with its exhibiting companies. The ideas presented through the project are expected to form the basis for the development of the new “Made in Filo” fabric collection, which will be unveiled in September. This special collection, entirely designed and produced by Filo, is intended to provide a tangible demonstration of the exhibition’s product development approach.

Three Different Approaches, One Vision

Rossano Bisio, who developed the creative concept behind Botanica, describes the project as a manifesto for the rebirth of the textile industry. According to Bisio, the concept is built around three key product development approaches: “Spontaneous Botanica”, “Expanded Botanica” and “Hybridised Botanica”.While the first approach highlights the simplicity and elegance of natural fibres, the second represents balanced development shaped by cultural heritage and technical expertise. The third approach focuses on innovative solutions centred on functionality, performance and durability.Taken together, these three approaches present Botanica as a vision of sustainable and contemporary elegance through natural tones, tactile surfaces, light effects and advanced material interpretations. Within the concept, yarn is regarded not merely as a raw material, but as a living element at the centre of design.

Towards the Made in Filo Collection

The product development proposals shared by Filo serve as a valuable reference for industry professionals preparing their new-season collections. The content, developed particularly for yarn manufacturers, fabric developers and fashion brands, provides concrete examples related to material selection, surface design and collection development processes.

Published ahead of Filo 66, which will take place on 15–16 September 2026 at the Rho Fiera Exhibition Centre, Botanica stands out as the first step in presenting the exhibition’s creative vision while offering an optimistic and innovative perspective on the future of the industry.
