Located in China’s Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen has become one of the textile industry’s most closely followed centres in recent years, not only with its strong manufacturing infrastructure but also through its transformation driven by artificial intelligence, digitalisation and innovation. Intertextile Shenzhen Apparel Fabrics and Yarn Expo Shenzhen, which will be held simultaneously at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center (Futian) between 9-11 June 2026, are preparing to become one of the most important showcases of this transformation. Having welcomed nearly 40,000 visitors in previous editions, the events will once again bring together different segments of the textile value chain, from yarns and fabrics to apparel and technical textiles. This year, the main focus of the exhibitions will be AI-supported production processes, digital supply chains, sustainable materials, functional innovation and next-generation textile technologies.
Greater Bay Area strengthens its position in the textile industry
The Greater Bay Area, with Shenzhen at its centre alongside Guangzhou, Dongguan and Hong Kong, is considered one of the world’s most important textile and apparel manufacturing hubs thanks to its strong production ecosystem. In addition to its high manufacturing capacity, the region also stands out with technology investments, digital production infrastructure and international trade connections. In particular, AI-based production systems, data management, digital commerce applications and smart manufacturing solutions have recently become central to textile investments across the region. Shenzhen’s growing role in fashion technologies is also directly reflected in the content structure of the fairs. With Messe Frankfurt’s “Texpertise Focus AI” approach being implemented across global textile fairs, artificial intelligence technologies are becoming increasingly visible not only in manufacturing processes but also within exhibition concepts themselves.
Innovation focus grows stronger at Intertextile Shenzhen
Intertextile Shenzhen Apparel Fabrics 2026 will be organised this year under the main theme of “textile innovation.” The Innovation Studio area and the Future Horizons forum, both to be introduced for the first time, will further strengthen the exhibition’s technology-oriented structure. The Innovation Studio section will showcase advanced textile designs, innovative materials, next-generation fabric surfaces and technological solutions. Participating companies will have the opportunity to present their products with greater visibility, while visitors will be able to follow trends and technological developments more closely. Meanwhile, the Future Horizons forum will focus on the future of the industry. Topics such as AI-supported design systems, digitalisation, sustainable production models, new-generation business structures and technical innovations will be discussed throughout the programme. Important insights regarding the future of the industry will be shared for apparel manufacturers, fabric suppliers, brand representatives and designers. The exhibition will feature a broad product range including womenswear, casualwear, denim, suiting fabrics, shirting fabrics, sportswear, functional textiles, swimwear and lingerie. Innovation and technology will form the common denominator of the entire organisation.
AI-supported textile solutions attract attention
Representatives from AiDLab, which participated in the 2025 edition of the fair, previously stated that AI-supported fashion design and textile testing solutions attracted significant interest from visitors. The growing attention of fabric manufacturers and designers towards AI-supported design systems highlights the rapid pace of transformation within the industry. Today, competitiveness in the textile sector is no longer determined solely by manufacturing capacity. Data management, rapid product development, digital sampling processes and smart design systems are also becoming increasingly important factors. This development demonstrates the emergence of a more integrated structure between technology and textile manufacturing, particularly in South China.
Sustainable yarns come to the forefront at Yarn Expo Shenzhen
Yarn Expo Shenzhen 2026, which will take place concurrently with Intertextile Shenzhen, will focus specifically on the yarn and fibre sector. The exhibition will feature eight thematic product zones including Cashmere Yarn, Chemical Fibre, Cotton Yarn, Fancy Yarn, Green Linen Yarn, Silk Yarn and Premium Wool Yarn. As the global yarn and fibre market is expected to reach USD 108.5 billion in 2026, the fair aims to serve as an important meeting point for supply chains across South China and the wider Asia-Pacific region. Sustainable Lyocell blended yarns, functional fibres, advanced yarn technologies and next-generation performance materials will be among the key highlights of the exhibition. Participating companies will also have opportunities to establish new commercial connections through trend presentations, product launches and one-to-one business meetings.
The fairs offer not only trade, but also strategic direction
Intertextile Shenzhen Apparel Fabrics and Yarn Expo Shenzhen 2026 are evolving beyond traditional product exhibitions into platforms that help shape the future direction of the industry. At a time when sustainability, digitalisation, AI-supported production and innovation are becoming increasingly important, manufacturers, brands and buyers are searching not only for products but also for new business models, production approaches and strategic partnerships. With their structure responding directly to the changing needs of the textile industry, the Shenzhen fairs continue to strengthen their position as one of Asia’s leading centres for textile trade and technology-driven manufacturing.
