In the event organized this year, more than 550 participants from more than 30 countries marked their attendance. The Dornbirn GFC 2022, after two very difficult years, was a great success. Visitors and speakers were able to expand their network to push forward the necessary developments.
The Topic Headlines at the GFC:
Fibre Innovations, Sustainability, Circular Economy & Recycling, Smart Functional Surface, Nonwovens, Apparel & Sports were the headlines at the Kulturhaus Dornbirn over three halls.
One Congress - Two platforms
In 2022, the Austrian Fiber Institute was able to offer the Dornbirn GFC on location at the Kulturhaus in Dornbirn and as an online on demand version.
Due to the challenges of the last two years, caused by the Corona-19 virus, the organizers of the congress could really learn a lot. This year both needs of the visitors will be covered:
Networking at the event live in person and online on demand access for visitors with limited mobility. With this future model, the Dornbirn GFC will be prepared for new challenges.
Awarding Ceremony Paul Schlack Prize 2022:
The Paul Schlack / Wilhelm Albrecht Prize 2022 was awarded to following innovative projects:
Dr. Robert Tonndorf. TU Dresden, ITM, convinced the jury with his project: “Development of manufacturing technologies for the production of biomimetic fiber-based scaffolds from collagen for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine”.
The honrary prize was awarded to Leonie Reinders, DIFT Denkendorf. She convinced the jury with her project: “Development of novel oxide ceramic fibers for high-temperatue applications.” The award ceremony was organized and conducted by Frederic van Houte, CIRFS.

The Congress will take place from 13 – 15 September 2023 in Dornbirn live in person.
