Inspired by Istanbul’s cultural heritage, the contemporary and sustainable designs were presented to the international fashion world, once again proving the strength of the Turkish leather industry on the global fashion stage.
From Half a Century of Experience to the Global Stage
Named after its founding year, 1972, the brand presented its contemporary collection at Milan Fashion Week under the leadership of Creative Director Ivana Omazic. Offering luxury leather bags, accessories, and ready-to-wear collections, 1972 DESA combined Istanbul’s cultural richness with a modern design approach. Today, with showrooms and stores in fashion capitals such as Milan, Paris, and London, it continues to promote Turkish leather craftsmanship and innovative design worldwide.
A Turkish Breeze in Milan
The collection showcased by 1972 DESA at Milan Fashion Week met the fashion world and press on the Leather Fashion Hub runway at Piazza Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa. At the event, the elegant and innovative face of Turkish leather once again stood out on the global fashion scene. The special event was attended by Turkey’s Consul General in Milan, Mr. Mehmet Özöktem, and his spouse, along with Milan Trade Attachés Mr. Ahmet Erkan Çetinkayış and Mr. Kadir Eser. The strong interest from Turkish and Italian fashion media and influencers created a Turkish breeze in the very center of Italian fashion.
Statement from DESA CEO Burak Çelet
Following the event, DESA CEO Burak Çelet said: “As DESA, we are proud to bring the quality and design strength of the Turkish leather industry to the world stage. The invitation of our 1972 DESA brand to Milan Fashion Week and the recognition and acclaim the collection received on this platform represent a great success for both our country and our industry. With the prestige and inspiration we gained from Milan, we will continue to grow in international markets and present our innovative collections to leading representatives of the fashion world.”
