The Italian textile machinery industry is set to reinforce its presence in the Asian market with a strong participation at ITMA Asia Singapore 2025, taking place from 28 to 31 October 2025. A total of 100 Italian companies will exhibit their products and technologies over an area of approximately 4,000 square metres, confirming Italy once again as one of the largest exhibiting countries at the show.
National Participation Organized by ACIMIT and ITA
This year, 53 Italian manufacturers will exhibit within the National Sector Groups, organized jointly by ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and ITA (Italian Trade Agency).
Among the technologies on display will be spinning, weaving, knitting, finishing, dyeing, digital printing, automation, and energy efficiency solutions.
This participation highlights Italy’s innovation capacity in textile machinery and its strategic approach to the Asian market.
A Strategic Focus on the Asian Market
ITMA Asia Singapore is recognized as one of the most important meeting points for the textile machinery industry in Asia.
In 2024, the region accounted for half of global textile machinery imports, valued at 8.8 billion euros.
Within this framework, China and India represent the two largest world markets, with a combined import value of 4.3 billion euros.
For Italian manufacturers as well, Asia remains the top export destination.
In 2024, exports to the region reached 664 million euros, while in the first half of 2025, this figure increased by 1% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 317 million euros.
The main Asian markets for Italian-made machinery are China, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
“Singapore is the Gateway to Southeast Asia”
Marco Salvadè, President of ACIMIT, underlined the strategic relevance of the Singapore edition:
“ITMA Asia Singapore represents an important opportunity for Italian textile machinery manufacturers to present their latest technological solutions.
The choice of Singapore enables Italian exhibitors to connect directly with the expanding production hubs of Southeast Asia.”
Salvadè added that the technologies on display will not only focus on productivity but also on environmental sustainability:“Visitors will discover digital tools that enhance process efficiency and connectivity, smart production systems, and machinery designed for energy and water savings.
Italian manufacturers continue to combine their deep-rooted textile know-how with cutting-edge innovation.”
Italy Strengthens Its Position in Asia
Giorgio Calveri, Director of ITA Singapore, emphasized Italy’s consistent growth in the region:
“Italy exports 86% of its textile machinery production, which totals 2.1 billion euros annually.
This clearly reflects the industry’s strong international orientation.
ITMA Asia Singapore offers a strategic opportunity to further consolidate Italy’s presence in the Asian market.”
Calveri also pointed out that the 100 companies coordinated by ACIMIT and supported by ITA stand out as “reliable partners providing advanced, sustainable, and competitive technologies.”
Industry Profile: Global Weight of Italian Machinery
Representing around 300 manufacturers and 12,500 employees, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) stands among the leading players worldwide, with an annual turnover of 2.1 billion euros, 86% of which is exported.
“Creativity, sustainable technology, reliability, and quality” are the key values distinguishing the Italian textile machinery industry on the global stage.
ACIMIT leads numerous projects aimed at promoting a culture of sustainable production and reducing the carbon footprint of the sector.
Initiatives under the “Sustainable Technologies” label encourage the design and production of high energy-efficiency, environmentally friendly machinery.
