Sun Tekstil, which attaches importance to digital transformation practices to ensure sustainability, vision has been disclosed to achieve 90% of its production from sustainable raw materials in 2030.

Sun Tekstil held the Sustainability Meeting at the IzQ Innovation Center with the agenda of sustainability goals. At the meeting, where approximately 230 Sun Tekstil employees marked their presence, major emphasis was on the importance placed on digital transformation and the capability to utilize the power of technology effectively by Sun Tekstil for the sustainable change.

“We Consume Fewer Natural Resources”

Melis Vekiloğlu, Member of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Sun Tekstil, emphasized on the sustainability steps and the strategies of Sun Tekstil. While pointing out that Sun Tekstil gives life to all of their work by focusing on sustainability, Vekiloğlu said, “In every year, we compile 5 sustainable, 4 recycled and 2 re-imagined capsule collections. We achieved 60% of our 2021 production with sustainable raw materials. We aim to make possible 90% of our production in 2030 and when we reach 2040, we aim to achieve with 100% sustainable raw materials. To fulfill sustainability demand, we give importance to digital transformation practices. Thanks to our digitalization practices, we can increase the efficiency of our design and production processes. Thanks to the three-dimensional design software we use, we consume fewer natural resources via reducing the physical sample sewing by 40%.”

While underlining that they achieved 20% of their total production in 2021 with the environmentally friendly dyeing method, Vekiloğlu said, “Thanks to our cogeneration system, energy savings made possible from the power used for generating heat. With the energy efficiency projects we developed; we entitled to 30% incentive granted by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in 2021. Thanks to the improvements as a result of the energy efficiency projects we completed in 2020-2021, we prevented a total of nearly 2,636 tons of CO2 emissions. In order to consume fewer natural resources, we are forming our digital fabric library thanks to the technologies that allows the detailed vision of fabric surface. Thanks to our digitalization practices, starting from the design process, at all stages of our production, we integrate business models on the basis of circular economy.”
