IGATEX Continues To Develop Textile Industry

IGATEX Pakistan International Apparel, Textile Machinery and Accessories Fair to be organised in Lahore Exhibition Centre on April 26-29 this year will host textile manufacturers and buyers from all around the world.  The fair provides an important platform for providing the opportunity to see the latest trends and technologies used in the textile industry.

Drawing attention with a record-breaking number of visitors every year, IGATEX continues to reinforce its position in Pakistan's textile industry. Last year, the fair welcomed more than 550 participants from 35 countries and more than 50 thousand visitors showed a great interest in the fair. Participants and visitors who participated in the fair from various regions of the world had the opportunity to see the latest technologies closely.

The Importance Of Pakistan In Textile Sector

Pakistan has gained momentum in the development of textile industry for exports over the last years. The Pakistan textile sector has a very important role in the country's economy. Today, Pakistan is the fourth largest cotton producer in the world, and it attracts a great attention with its third largest spinning capacity in Asia.

Thanks to its textile policy, Pakistan has been hosting significant events since 2014.  Today, there are  11.3 million spindles, 3 million rotors, 350 thousand looms, 18 thousand knitting machines in textile industry and this industry has a production capacity of 5.2 billion square meters. In addition to 700,000 industrial and household type sewing machines, it has a strong fiber base including 13 million bales of cotton and 600,000 tons of handmade fiber, including polyester fiber. There are 21 filament yarn mills with a capacity of 100 thousand tons. The filament and yarn industry is supported by a PTA facility with a capacity of 500 thousand tons. Unlike many competitors with only a primary or finished base, there is a complete textile value chain that is quite rare in the world.

Textile export of Pakistan increased by 7,91 percent during July-September 2017.  Pakistan exported textile products worth $ 3.3 billion between July-September of 2012-2013, which is worth $ 3 billion compared to the same period of the last year.  The remarkable growth in textile exports according to the Pakistan Statistics Bureau (PBS) led to total exports during July-September period of 2011-2015 to rise up to $ 5.2 billion from $ 4.7 billion in the same period of the previous year. PBS data shows apparel exports increased by 15.97 percent to $ 608 million during July-September period on an annual basis. Exports of knitwear increased by 9.35 units during July-September period of 2011-2013 and it reached up to $ 647.7 million.

IGATEX, which has attracted international participants and their attention, draws a great attention as a leading textile and apparel machines as a must-see fair in Pakistan. Hosting the technological show of the world leading brands, the fair is expected to have the participation of many important companies from Turkey.
