The Wind of 4.0 in Ready-Made Clothing

The aim of the project is increasing the share of Turkish garment industry, the fifth biggest supplier worldwide having the %3,4 of the global market which is around 500 billion dollars and also keeping Turkish market in a pioneering role in a high added value export globally. The first meeting in which a road map was determined was held with the participation of the chairman of executive board of UHKİB Nüvit Gündemir, Yeşim Tekstil’s CEO and the previous chairman of executive board of UHKİB Şenol Şankaya and 14 other involving firms’ delagates. Nüvit Gündemir during his speech in the meeting, drew attention to contribution of the new project for sustaining UHKİB’s characteristics of knowledge generator and leading guide of the sector.

Suitable character for “Made in Turkey”

Nüvit Gündemir stated the three components of the new road map as branding, sustainability and labor force and he said “Made in Turkey label with its design, quality and after sale support represents a character which stands behind its word. Our main priority in this project will be spreading the label to the wider masses. Likewise we will produce new projects in order to increase the usage of artifical intelligence according to changing trends among our members and productivity, with the help of successful implementation examples we will constantly guide the sector for improvements. We will generalize the inovation culture with education in labor force which is the most important component of the road map.”

Technology is guiding the variables”

Gündemir stated that the developments in the fashion industry forced the business manners to be changed and said “ Firms should organize their supply chain according to the demands of the consumer very fast. In this new structure it is important to watch out the breakage between the cost and prices. We know the prices in the stores. There are operations which begin with minimum three multipliers and reach up to higher levels but the cost of the product is only one third of it. Other costs and stock policies are as important as the cost of the good. In these models Turkey will be in a favorable position compared to Far East, if the good price is not the only element that is considered. High technology is not about electronic and robotization. It is the ability to guide these variables.” Other than that, Assoc. Prof . Dr. Ahmet Başkese who informed the participants, mentioned that the period of needs analysis will continue until September 14.
