Tommy Hilfiger producing two sneakers using fibers obtained by apple-industry waste and recycled from apple peel has used 24 percent recycled apple fibers on the surface layer of the sneakers as an alternative for biological leather. Sustainability has been moved on to a further step with the new alternative for leather by integrating apple peer fibers with the shoes presented as a part of the 2020 spring season.

The Demand for the Alternatives of Leather Is Increasing

Considering the opportunities for the high production of apple in the Tyrol district famous for apple cultivation in northern Italy, Italian entrepreneur Frumat developed fibers from apple peer by dealing with both the waste problem and the increasing demand for the alternatives of ecologic leather in the fashion industry.
