The chemistry industry stepping forward as a locomotive industry was the largest exporting industry in November with exports conducted to 208 countries and regions. The total exports of 2019 were realized as 26 million 539 thousand tons with an increase of 35,83%. Among the countries, where the chemistry industry conducted exports, Spain was number one with an export equivalent to 1 billion 62 million dollars, Holland was number two with an export equivalent to 1 billion 32 million dollars and Iraq was number 3 with 1 billion 12 million dollars.
“Records were broken in 2019”
Board Chairman of İKMİB, Mr.Adil Pelister noted the followings about the end of year exports of the chemistry industry; “Our chemistry industry exports broke a record in 2019. By exceeding our target of 20,6 billion dollars, we have achieved a great success. In addition, with a growth proportion of 18,54% among the industries having performed an export over 3 billion dollars in 2019, we have been the fastest growing industry in exports in Turkey. Our industry’s exports in quantity basis were realized as 26 million 539 thousand tons with an increase by 35,83%. We broke a record in 2019 October on a monthly basis with an export of 1,94 billion dollars. During 2019, as the second largest exporting industry in Turkey, we have achieved our permanent target,” he said.
Pelister pointed out that as the chemistry industry they have received a proportion of 11,44% from Turkey’s total exports, “We have provided a crucial added value to our country. In 2020, we would like to preserve our position as Turkey’s largest exporting industry and provide contributions to our growth. Meanwhile, we plan to realize our activities at a larger extent by creating a road map dedicated to our sub-industries,” he said.
