Turkey is the Most Dynamic Market in EU

Trutzschler Nonwovens concentrates on complete lines for making carded nonwovens. Most technologies were developed decades ago but Trutzschler keeps optimizing its machinery towards higher productivity, better end product quality and/or better efficiency all the time. The latest development is WLS – a complete line for wet-laid/spunlaced nonwovens. This is a joint project with German Voith, the well-known expert for paper and other wet-laid materials making equipment. Ll machinery has been successfully adapted in 2013 and resulted in 4 lines running and another line just being built-up.

We Have Advanced Technology in Most of Our Machines

Trützschler Senior Marketing Manager Jutta Stehr stated that; “Trutzschler’s product range comprises machinery for bale opening, fibre blending, web forming, web bonding, finishing, drying and winding. Core components are various roller cards, the AquaJet for spunlacing and the various efficient drum dryers. Our target is to supply customers with the best machinery for his product out of one hand. Therefore Trutzschler completed its nonwovens machinery portfolio in 2012 by taking the Bastian winder assets. Customers value this one-stop shopping. In nonwoven lines, an overall solution often is more appealing than having a selection of best components by different suppliers. Many of our machines are still advanced – even if their base technology has been developed years ago. One example is the AquaJet for spunlacing carded, wet-laid or even spunbonded webs. Over time it has developed into a versatile machine concept suited for hydroentangling light, medium and heavy weight webs. Its' range of application now includes wipe material or medical nonwovens as well as coating substrates, geo- and automotive textiles or hot-gas filtration media. And it is not finished – new features are constantly being developed when producers come with new requirements.” about the Trützschler’s product portfolio and the distinctive qualities of their products.

Renewable Resources and Sustainability

On behalf of Trützschler, Stehr answered our question of “What are your main role on developing the nonwoven technologies?” as following; “All nonwoven technologies for making carded nonwovens are quite mature. But they are not exhausted: Both Trutzschler and the competition come with optimizations and new solutions all the time. For a long time Trutzschler has seen its' role in the industry as a machine supplier. But this has changed a couple of years ago with the beginning of our cooperation with Voith. In 2013 we had a new technology – WLS (wet-laid and spunlacing) – and we explored its potential. So we made a lot of trials and convinced several producers to invest in flushable wipes. Now we’ll introduce a new WLS end product. This time it is about sustainable disposable products from renewable resources, e.g. wet wipes. The result is machinery and a process to make wipe materials from a lyocell fiber blend. The wipes are strong, soft, absorbent – and both affordable and biodegradable. So our self-image broadened. We now see ourselves more as a business enabler. We identify megatrends - such as sustainability and green products - and we supply the appropriate  machinery, technologies and processes.

China Has Become a Dominant Market in Terms of Volume and Quality

Trützschler Senior Marketing Manager Jutta Stehr who states that “In the last 3 years the markets’ focus has shifted from bonding equipment to web forming machinery because it is this process step which determines web and nonwovens quality. Our development focus shifted likewise.”; also concluded with; “Our special random card NCR for processing cotton fibers has become very popular. It reliably processes bleached and unbleached cotton varieties as well as comber noils to make soft, high-quality cotton wipes. For producers looking for high productivity spunlacing lines, Trutzschler introduced the high capacity roller card NCT 2 years ago. Its' distinctive feature is a new transfer section which increases the carding area significantly. Thus throughput goes up and line speeds get up to 300 m/min at the winder for popular PET/CV blends. Also Stehr answered as following for our question of “How would you evaluate your position both in Turkish and World markets with the machines constantly produced?”;  “Trutzschler has a good name all over the world and we supply our technology to quality-minded producers world-wide. During the last years China has become a dominant market in both volume- and quality. First tier Chinese nonwovens producers' rely on our solutions and imported core components for both mainland and overseas demand.”

Turkey, is The Second Nonwoven Producer

About the Turkey market’s importance, the plans on investments and targets in Turkey market, Trützschler Senior Marketing Manager Jutta Stehr noted that; “Turkey is an important nonwoven producer and even the most dynamic market in the EU. According to our estimate, Turkey produced some 380.000 tons of nonwovens last year. The country is the second largest producer of nonwoven fabrics.”
