Taypa Takes Firm Steps Forward

Tay Group Chairman of Executive Board Mesut Toprak made important explanations on various topics such as investment plans, future targets, innovations in production lines and R&D studies while he was answering the questions of our publishing group Tekstil Dünyası. Meanwhile Mesut Toprak reminded their first abroad investments in Egypt in order to spread their experiences in Textile sector, made significant comments on developments in Taypa Group’s abroad organization. Here are Toprak’s comments on Taypa:

First Foreign Destination has become Egypt

“In order to carry our 40-year experiences in Textile sector to overseas we made our first investments in Egypt. We established our company “T&C Garment” with Cairo Cotton Center partnership which produces ready-wear goods and went into action in Al Obour City Cairo in 2010. In our plant which is built on 40 thousand meter squares field we produce 500 thousand pieces of denim and non-denim ready-wear products. As you know, Egypt is a highly strategic country since it has free trade agreement with USA. By this way, we gained leverage in our export to USA. Last year, our export through Egypt exceeded 50 billion dollar despite the inner conflicts in the country.”

First Export from Algeria Came True

“Our second destination was Algeria. In the first phase of the investment which we accomplish with Tay Group- Algerian state-owned enterprises partnership, thread production has started. With the thread that we produce in our plants, besides satisfying the needs of Algerian market we start exporting in June 2018. Now, apart from Turkey, we export thread to European countries such as Italy, Poland and Portugal. Within Algeria’s Relizane County Sidi Khetab Industial Zone, in an area of 2.5 billion meter square, in the first phase of our integrated textile and ready-wear production plant cloth, denim and non-denim production will start in a short time. The Project that we named “Tayal SPA” is planned to be finished in 10 years. By the time it finishes, Algeria will be one of the strongest textile and ready-wear centers of the region.”

Endurance in Investments to Serbia Plants

“Our third overseas investment destination is Serbia… We will make investment of 35 billion euros in 5 years to the ready-wear factory that we will establish in Kraljevo city. We will employ approximately 2 thousand 500 people in the plant. The plant which is located in the 160 km South of Belgrade has a strategic significance due to proximity to the international transportation networks. Now, we produce annually 8 billion in Turkey, 5 billion in Egypt and totally 13 billion of clothes. Our goal: With our plants in Turkey, Egypt and after the plants in Algeria and Serbia has been completed producing 45-50 billions of clothes in total. This number will make us the biggest producer in Europe and this pool.”

Tayal’s Export is Not Just to Turkey

“Tayal, with Turkish-Algerian partnership, has the title of Africa’s biggest textile plant. Along with its importance for us, it is highly crucial investment for Algerian economy. Algeria imports the 90 per cent of its textile and ready-wear needs. In June we have started thread export; with the help of other plants cloth exporting will also be maintained. When we look at the order list we not only see Turkey but predominance of European countries such as Italy, Poland, Germany and Portugal. Therefore this organization is an important step for Taypa to be an international producer brand. Also, being a fully integrated plant is an indicator of Taypa’s dominance in the sector… In short, we take cotton and turn it into thread, with this thread we produce cloth and convert it to ready-wear. The number of the producers who have this concept is very few in all over the World.”

“We Will Be the Biggest of European and Russian Markets”

Within our vision of being a worldwide producer, new investments and studies of purchasing is always in our agenda that may complete our portfolio and provide added-value. But now, Serbia investment which we maintain perceptibly is very valuable and constitutes the significant ring of the chain. In today’s World, brands who work on design and pay attention to innovation may guarantee their futures. At this point our investment in Serbia matters a lot.  When our plant which is located in the middle of Europe starts production, we will be the supplier of both European countries and big markets such as Russia.”

‘More than a hundred engineers are employed in our firm’

“As Taypa our mission is to become the biggest innovative producer in the field. İn this manner, by using technology, we build sustainable new production systems. More than a hundred engineers work for us. We develop 1500 new products in our R&D center which is 2 thousand m2 big. Our area of expertise is denim. You can only increase the added value on denim through washing technologies. Within this R&D Center we do washing with fewer water and energy. Our water savings increased to 95% by the gob we developed here. Today, we minimize the water and chemicals consumption in our factories through the gob technology. By using the new gob system, you can wash products with only one cup of water. Thus we use 95% less water and 75% less chemicals. With this technology, we save 40 thousand tons of water in a year. We alsa prepared the first sustainability on denim sector through this technology”.

‘100 million dollars export in 2017 ‘

“Today with Taypa, in 4 different locations in and out of country, we produce denim and non-denim apparel in a 70 thousand m2 big production center. While employing 3 thousand people, we exported to brands from more than 50 different countries which worths around 100 million dollars. The share of export became 80% in overall turnover. Our investments abroad continue just like our investments in Turkey. This year our production and export revenues will be more than the level of 2017. We performed quite well in the first half of the year. The levels we already reached Show that we can reach to our yearly goals easily. “
