Grant and Employment Guarantee Fully Satisfied the Quota of Textile Engineering

With the protocol signed between ready-wear, textile, leather industrialists and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the departments of textile and leather has reached of 92% occupancy rate during the 2019 selection period

Grant and Employment Guarantee Fully Satisfied the Quota of Textile Engineering

A press conference has realised considering the details and the results of the “Textile Engineering Grant and Employment Project” which is organised by the Unions of Ready-Wear, Textile and Materials, Leather and Leather Exporters and the Syndicate of Textile Industry Employers.

The General Manager of Istanbul Exporters of Textile and Materials Union (ITHIB) Ahmet Öksüz, noted that the great interest towards the textile engineering made them happy for the future of the sector and the country, during speech released at the meeting.

“Non-Refundable Grant about Minimum Wage for the Students of the First 20.000 Success Rate”

Öksüz who reminded that they will supply employment guarantee and minimum wage for the students who prefer textile engineering  with the first 20.000 success rate will receive 70% of the minimum wage, the students between 20.000 and 50.000 will receive half of the minimum wage, the students rank between 50.000 and 80.000, while announcing that 33 students rank between the first 50.000, 56 students rank between the 50.000 and 80.000, 89 students in total, are deserved grants.

Öksüz who stated that the first step is fulfilled with a great success, stated that; “While only 42% of the total quota satisfied during 2018, this year the occupancy rate reached 92% in comparison to the first preference sessions. While only two programs could fill the quota in 2018, this year 9 divisions reached the same level of success. The entrance score of the textile engineering program increased by 100%. We have filled 398 of our 433 quotas. This indeed was above our expectations.”

“We Take a Great Step for our Young People’s Future”

Öksüz which noted that Turkey has the 8th place in locomotive sectors such as textile and ready-wear, and has the 3rd place as a supplier in European Union, also stated that;

“We will increase the added value in the sectors that provides inflow of foreign currency in exports the most with the attendance of qualified young people within the sector. We enriched our grand and employment project with applied training based education to make young people be the part of the positive transformation of the sector. We expect that these young people will graduate from these programs successfully and will fasten this movement of reform in our factories, the factories they will open or managed by other businesses.”

“We Need to Carry Technological Developments in Our Sector Faster”

The general manager of Istanbul Ready-Wear Exporters Union (IHKIB) Mustafa Gültepe noted that the project that resulted in success is an example in terms of the collaboration between universities and industries for the other sectors.

Mustafa Gültepe stated that there is a need for development of the qualified employment while underlining that textile and ready-wear sector has made great successes that makes Turkey proud internationally.

“Occupancy Rate in Leather Engineering is Full”

Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Union (IDMIB) President Mustafa Şenocak stated that; “We have gathered the benefits of the collaborative works in order to enhance the awareness of Textile and leather engineering programs.” while announcing the full occupancy rate of the leather engineering program.

Şenocak who noted that they make an effort for gathering these developments with the sector fast, while considering all of these developments that increases the power of rivalry; stated that; “We have always supported the projects which will carry our sector to the higher levels and support the relationship between education, production and employment. We believe that the most important added value will be provided by quality employment.”
