The Coronavirus epidemic, which emerged in China, had a domino effect on the economy and had a negative impact on the fair industry globally.

Fair trade, which has been acknowledged as an important marketing strategy in the global and regional economy, has been in a critical test due to the Coronavirus disease. The virus that emerged in Wuhan, China has already affected in more than 40 countries up to date that has already been the reason of absence of many lives and therefore, has caused a global crisis. Besides the production, the fair sector, which has an important place in the world, has been affected negatively from this unexpected disease negatively. More than 401 has been postponed or delayed to an unsettled date due to coronavirus globally in order to reduce negative effect of the disease

137 Fair Dates Have Re-Scheduled

In total, 135 fairs have postponed to an unsettled date and within the scope of regions; in Turkey 1, in Germany 2, in Bangladesh 7, in the United Arab Emirates 1, in China 29, in France 26, in Hong Kong 1, in Switzerland 3, in Italy 51, in Malaysia 1, in Romania 1, in Singapore 2, in Thailand 5, in Taiwan 5 and in Vietnam 2 trade fairs all have been postponed to an unsettled date

264 Fair Dates Have Postponed to an Unsettled Date

In total, 264 Fairs have postponed to an unsettled date and within the scope of regions; in Germany 58, in China 112, in Indonesia 7, in France 3, in India 1, in Hong Kong 10, in Spain 2, in Switzerland 9, in Italy 8, in Japan 17, in Korea 10, in Malaysia 2, in Singapore 14, in Sri Lanka 4, in Taiwan 5, and in Thailand and Vietnam 2 fairs all have been postponed to an unknown date.

Most of the Cancellations and Postponements Recorded in China

The fair sector, which has an important place in its economy, has particularly affected China. While the dates of 29 fairs have changed 112 fairs have been postponed to unknown dates.  As a consequence of the virus, which also affected Asian region, 72 fairs have been postponed to an unknown dates mainly in Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Thailand.

It was stated primarily that the growth rate of the virus epidemic in China will cause a slight decrease by 1 percent. However, industry experts expect a 5.2 decrease for China.

Europe has also affected by the Coronavirus Disease

While 82 fairs have postponed to an unknown date in Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland and Spain and Romania, 77 fairs dates have changed.

Textile Fairs with Postponement

International Composite Exhibition and Conference JEC World, Asia Apparel Expo as a resource fair for clothing, International Grinding Technology Fair GrindTec, The world's leading industrial dyeing technology fair PaintExpo, International Yarn and Fabric Fair DIFS, Textile and Clothing Accessories Fair DitaTex, International Textile and Clothing Fair Industry Fair DTG, International Paint, Pigment and Textile Chemicals CHINA INTERDYE, International Sock Fair CHPE, INDEX ™ 20 and fairs alike have cancelled.

Turkey is an alternate during crisis

On the other hand, China, the world's largest exporter of ready-to-wear and ready-made garments, used to perform more than a third of total ready-to-wear exports before the epidemic. In addition to the slowdown in manufacture of material and equipment due to coronavirus, logistics problems also arise and a decline in production and exports is being experienced. Some companies do not send their representatives to China and search new companies while Turkey has been positioned strategically and recognized as a primary alternate to China.
