Value Added Innovation From Yünsa

Aiming to leverage the circular economy model and  to reduce its carbon footprint by adopting the concept of sustainability at its center, Yünsa leads the industry with its efforts on waste recycling. Thanks to its R&D studies, Yünsa uses recycled materials as raw materials in compliance with the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) certificates, and also uses the fiber wastes released from manufacturing line as raw materials.

Recycled Fabric Collection

Supporting Turkey's Circular Economy Platform Turkey Materials Marketplace project developed by the Sustainable Development Association, Yünsa come up with the project "Developing a Low Carbon Footprint Mini Eco Fabric Collection by Recycling Fabric Waste". Within the scope of the project made possible with the financial grant of the European Investment and Development Bank (EBRD),  recycled fabrics in five different compositions were developed.

Yünsa R&D Center, which has been carrying out the "Development of Recycled Yarn and Fabrics from Wool Yarn Production Line Waste" project with the support of TÜBİTAK since 2019, aims to recycle the wastes in the yarn and fabric production lines in the most effective way with the projects it has developed. The company also applied for a patent by producing fabrics that provide sound and heat insulation from yarn and fiber wastes generated during the production process.

Woolen Fabric Waste Uses In Economy

Providing information on the subject, Yünsa General Manager Mustafa Sürmegöz said, “Environmentally friendly, sustainable solutions and innovation are at the center of our production. By consuming less energy and natural resources, we are aiming to manufacture with more environmentally friendly concept by reducing our carbon footprint. With this approach, we diversify our work on sustainable production in order to leave a more livable world to future generations. Finally, with the innovative work of our R&D Center, we have succeeded in reengineering not only our fiber waste but also our woolen fabric waste into the economy. In line with the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) certificates, the recycled materials used in the final product are tracked and verified throughout the supply chain. As Yünsa, we are moving forward with the aim of increasing our contribution to the circular economy. In the raw material supply process, by recycling waste plastic bottles, we give priority to using suppliers that produce polyester fiber. With this understanding, we continue our work to create new collections from recycled yarns and fabrics.”
