Exporters associations which carry on business at textile sector selected chairmans of the board of new term at their elective ordinary general assembly meetings. Pınar Taşdelen who was elected as the chairman of the board of Uludağ Textile Exporters Assoiations (UTİB) is stood out as the first woman chairman at Turkish textile sector. As Jak Eskinazi was elected for Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association (ETHİB), Ahmet Kaplan took over the portfolio at Southeastern Anatolia Carpet Exporters Association (GAHİB). Hüseyin Memişoğlu was elected at Denizli Exporters Association. Mustafa Şenocak will maintains his task at the new period at İstanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association. İsmail Gülle at İstanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters Association (İTHİB) assigned the Chairmanship of the Board to Ahmet Öksüz.
İsmail Gülle Transferred the Flag
New chairman of the board of İstanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters Association (İTHİB) was determined with the elective general assembly carried out. At the election made with a single list, new chairman of the board became Ahmet Öksüz. At the new term, old Chairman İsmail Gülle will manage the Vice- Chairmanship. İsmail Gülle who made the opening speech of the general assembly, by stating that they produced solutions for the sector during the time he managed his task, said “Leaving the chairmanship doesn’t mean leaving you. I will maintain my activities as a soldier of the sector after this”. Ahmet Öksüz who has been realizing his activities for 20 years at exporters’ association said they are working at the most Dynamic sector of Turkey. Öksüz used the following statements; “We are the leading of the sector having the most foreign trade surplus. Our aim is to solve the problems with consultation by increasing collaboration. We are targeting to produce common solutions.”
Woman Touch to UTİB
Pınat Taşdelen Engin who was the single candidate at the chairman elections carried out at General Assembly of Uludağ Textile Exporters Association (UTİB) became the new chairman of UTİB. Engin who was elected for the chairmanship of UTİB also became the first woman chairman at Turkish textile sector. Engin, carrying out several duties at the management of UTİB for 8 years, also carrying out the vice- chairmanship for last 4 years.
Engin who took the entire of 77 votes used at general assembly, took over the duty of chairmanship from İbrahim Burkay Engin who thanked all members due to the trust, gave place the following explanations; “UTİB realized important projects at home and abroad at especially export- based development point. As these activities were appreciated by the sector, were held up as the examples by the other sector on the other hand. We will keep on our activities with an increasing energy which open up the horizon of the sector with the activities such as being the textile and outfit centre of Bursa, R&D project market, design competitions, sectoral search conferences, national participation to the international fairs and the activities contributing to production and export."
Engin who added her words that the roles of the young generation need to increase at the sector, said, "As being UTİB, we think the effect of the youth at the sector cannot be denied. Therefore we enable them to play more active at the events we organize. Because being attractive of the textile sector by the young people matters for us. We aim for them to put targets at the sector, make career plans and gain innovations to the sector."
Aegean Textile Exporters Selected New President
Elective ordinary general assembly meeting of Aegean Textile and Ra Materials Exporters Association (ETHİB) was carried out. Jak Eskinazi who was the single candidate for the chairmanship took over the duty of the Chairmanship of the Board of ETHİB from Sabri Ünltürk by receiving the entire of 39 votes. Jak Eskinazi who was the Chairman of the Board of Aegean Ready-to-wear and Outfit Association (EHKİB) between the years 2003-2010, was on the books as the first name who became the chairman at two separate association within Aegean Exporters Association (EİB). Eskinazi worked as the Vice- Chairman of the Board of ETHİB in last term.
Sabri Ünlütürk who passed the baton at ETHİB as the chairman of the board of ETHİB since 2006, said the following at the meeting; “İncreasing the value- added product export became our main target. We carried out innovation weeks and activities for R&D. Our activities for Technical Textiles Research and Application Centre (TEKSMER) which we started with the supported of İZKA 5 years ago wer completed successfully. TEKSMER will maintain its activities as being a joint- stock company in partnership with EHKİB and ETHİB in the next period.”
Chairman of the Board of ETHİB, Jak Eskinazi who talked at the general assembly, said textile sector played the key role at the important position that Turkish ready-to-wear sector reached. Eskinazi also said “For increasing the export of our sector, making correspond the changing demands, first we need to produce value- added products and export, and for this we need to speed up the R&D activities and spread the issue of technical textile production in the region.”
Ahmet Kaplan Took Over The Flag at GAHİB
Chairmanship of the board was carried out at the Ordinary General Meeting of Southeastern Anatolia Carpet Exporters Association (GAHİB). The elections was carried out as two lists in which the candidateships of İlyas Öztürkmen and Ahmet Kaplan were announced. As 290 members of the association voted at the election, Ahmet Kaplan was elected as chairman by taking 174 of these votes.
Ahmet Kaplan who took over the chairmanship from Salahattin Kaplan gave fraternity message after the announcement of the election results. Kaplan who stated the election was carried out in a democratic environment, said “Election is over. Now it is the time to serve. There isn’t winner or loser at the election. The winner is Gaziantep; the carpet sector”. Kaplan who said they target to improve the success of Gaziantep obtained at carpet sector, also said “We will start activities without wasting any time we promised just before the election to the members. We are waiting for the supports to realize our promises. For us, all opinions of the members are important. We will give our all to solve the problems of the sector by counseling with all of our members”. İlyas Öztürkmen who lost the chairmanship with 114 votes, thanked the members participated to the election and celebrated new GAHİB chairman Ahmet Kaplan after saying “We will stand on to develop the sector within fraternity. From now on, Ahmet Kaplan is my chairman, too."
Chairman at İDMİB Didn’t Change
Mustafa Şenocak who managed the task of chairmanship last four years was reelected at ordinary general assembly which was carried out with single list at İstanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association (İDMİB). Şenocak who emphasized that the election was done with single list, used the following statements; “We are entering ordinary general assembly as the association all together. We contributed great to our country economy just in 2017 to 186 countries from different regions of the world by realizing 1,5 billion dollars value export. With this 1,5 billion dollars export in 2017 we caught 9% growth when compared to the previous year. As we maintain to increase our shares at the current markets at the new term that we took over the task, we will also proceed to direct to the new markets. I believe to reach our 2023 targets which was put for our association by working together.”
Passing The Torch At DENİB
Denizli Exporters Association carried out elective ordinary general assembly. Vice Chairman of TİM and Chairman of DENİB, Süleyman Kocasert transferred duty to Hüseyin Memişoğlu whom maintained for 8 years. Süleyman Kocasert who said he will always have the honor and the proud of his duty for all of his life that maintained 8 years, said “I will transfer the flag I took to my Hüseyin Memişoğlu again. He gave the duty to us despite he could continue. He always made a great effort to develop our export. From now on we will support him and the new management to be selected and stand by them.”
New Chairman Memişoğlu said “We have an association sheltering all of the sectors. I thing software will be included within these sectors soon. Last year 780 million dollars software export was carried out in our country. This needs to be within the export of our city”. Memişoğlu who told they have the target of 500 billion dollars export in 2023, used the following words “It is impossible to realize this target with the business we make today. We need to achieve this with activities light in weight but heavy in value.”
