After serving for 4 years as Commercial Counsellors in various countries, Bureaucrats of the Ministry of Trade have shared the experiences they had with Aegean Exporters.

Commercial Counsellors Become Voluntary Consultants

8 names who served as a Commercial Counsellors in countries such as Germany, Russia, China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Singapore, where we export 20 billion dollars in the 10 months of 2018, had bilateral negotiations with 45 member companies of Aegean Exporters’ Assoctions and they shared their experience.

Eskinazi: “Commercial Counsellors have had the opportunity to transfer their experience to our exporters“

Jak Eskinazi, Deputy Coordination Chairman at Aegean Exporters Association, suggests the commercial counsellors have had worked day and night for years together with the representatives of public and private organisations as well as non-governmental organisations in the countries they served to represent Turkey and they have created a platform where they can share their experience with exporters.

Eskinazi also points out that the appointment schedule with the commercial counsellors went full within a short period of time due to interests of exporting companies and further suggests, “we started Meeting With Commercial Counsellors in 2016. We re-organised these meetings for three times in March of 2016, 2017 and 2018. Thanks to the great interest of our exporting companies, we held the Meeting With Commercial Counsellors for the second time in 2018. We have had a large attendance outside Izmir, too. We are planing to continue these meetings next year.”

Stressing that Turkey aims to get 1.5 percent share from overall global export figures in 2023, Eskinazi alsı suggests, “to achieve this goal, we need to diversify our export markets. 7 countries where our commercial counsellors served received 5 percent share of Turkey's total exports. We aim to increase our share of imports from these countries through such activities.”

İşbırakmaz: ”We ensured the participation of 300 companies”

Prior to the bilateral negotiations, the Secretary General of the Aegean Exporters' Associations (EIB), Cumhur İşbırakmaz, made a presentation on the EIB's activities in 2018 for the commercial counsellors.

İşbırakmaz states 9 international fairs of the Aegean Exporters' Associations, 5 of which are held for industrial sectors and the remaining 4 of which are held for agricultural sectors, are undertaken by Turkish National Participatipn Organisation, 300 Turkish exporting companies have had the chance to introduce and market their products in such fairs.

Providing more information about sectoral trade delegation organizations, procurement delegation organizations, information stand participation to fairs, URGE Projects, Workshops, Turquality Projects and training activities organised by the Aegean Exporters' Associations in 2018 along with International Fairs Turkish National Participation Organisations, İşbırakmaz says they have carried out more than 50 events.

While Turkey exported USD 18.377 billion to the 7 service countries of the commercial counsellors who have participated in the “Meeting With Commercial Counsellors” held by the Aegean Exporters' Associations in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade in the 10 month period of 2017, a 9 percent increase has been achieved in the same period of 2018, yielding USD 19.970 billion foreign exchange.
