‘’We achieved 1 Billion Dollar Worth of Exports’’

While giving the opening speech at the Silkworm Export Awards Ceremony, UTİB Chairman of the Board Pınar Taşdelen Engin stated that closing the year 2020 with success has a different meaning and said, “Despite all of the difficulties, Uludağ Textile Exporters' Association managed to close the year 2020 with 1 billion dollars of exports. I am very happy to present awards to our companies, which are the architects of this success with their exports and performance despite the pandemic. With the normalization, the performance of our companies will increase even more and I wholeheartedly believe that we will achieve much better results in 2021.”

‘’We experienced rapid adptation to digitalization’’

Stating that competition in the global economy has been reshaped with the pandemic process, Pınar Taşdelen Engin said that companies adapt rapidly to changing conditions. Engin said, “The digitalization process, which we can go through in 5-10 years in this period, has become an important part of our lives in a very short time” and continued as follows: “As UTİB, we have never been pessimistic. We did not remain slient because of border closure or event cancellations. We were in a constant search. Without canceling all the events we planned for new projects, new markets and new customers that will pave the way for our industry, we successfully implemented them in the digital environment.”

“Our New Route is Sustainability”

Stating that the Turkish textile industry has risen to a position that not only diversifies the market but also the product, Engin emphasized about the new route of the industry as sustainability. UTİB President Engin said, “As UTİB, we are working to keep the topic of sustainability on the agenda. We are also happy when we see our companies that have taken steps and are successful in this regard. However, this is an issue that concerns the entire industry, not to just name a few companies. Because this reality will always stand in our way in our commercial relations with the European Union. As textile exporters, we will continue to work with the same passion and determination to make the biggest contribution to our country's export target of 200 billion dollars in 2021.”
