Yeşim Textile Has Become the Biggest Ready-to-Wear Exporter of Egypt

Yeşim Group Co CEO Selim Şankaya, who stated that they are extremely happy and proud of achieving the success of being the "biggest ready-made garment exporter" for 3 consecutive years according to the results of "2020 Egypt Garment Export", and said that they are very happy and proud of this success.

Apart from the production continued its plants in Turkey for the European market, including Egypt and Turkey with two more production centers in two countries, Şankaya said that one of these was operational in 2008 at Alexandria Egypt in consistent with their mission to become a global player. We ship our products from our facilities in Egypt to the American market, especially for Nike and Under Armor brands. Egypt is a strategic investment for us. The American market is a huge market. The free trade agreement that Egypt has also signed with the United States is a very important agreement and with this, you have the opportunity to sell duty-free goods there. Egypt has positioned the ready-to-wear industry as a priority within its growth targets already set until 2030. As we are the leader in exports in three successive years we give such great importance to the sector as a Turkish company and in particular, Egypt is the one makes us proud. We control American markets from Egypt and European market from Turkey. We manufacture goods from Moldova to satisfy Russian market and for the preference of this market. At the end, it is the only way to compete with Far-Eastern giants is the multi-national production centers. We should have full command and control of these markets. If you are bringing in American, European and Russian markets to your portfolio, brands will automatically will ask for strategic partnership and make long-term growth plans.’’

‘’We are considered to be a building block for Bursa and for Turkey Financially’’

Established in 1983 and will celebrate its 38th anniversary in October 2021, Yeşim alone produces for world brands in ready-to-wear and home textiles on a total area of 325 thousand square meters in Bursa, Şankaya continued with the following, “We are one of the few integrated facilities in the world that can carry out all activities from yarn to finished products under the same roof in the ready-to-wear sector. We also maintain our position amongst the biggest companies with the volume we created for employment and for female employees in Turkey. As Yeşim Group, we have a daily capacity of 115 tons in knitting, 125 tons in dyeing, 100,000 meters in printing, 250,000 pieces in ready-to-wear and 100,000 pieces in home textiles. We are considered to be a building block for Bursa and for Turkey financially in the textile and apparel industry since many years.

Yeşim, which alone meets one fourth of Bursa's ready-to-wear exports, continues to provide net input to the country with its export volume. Since the first years of our establishment, we have been exporting to global world brands. Cloth mask exports, which we started to produce due to the pandemic, were added to our exports of ready-to-wear products and to home textile products, which mainly consist of sportswear products. With the fabric masks we produced for the coronavirus epidemic, which threatens our country as well as the whole world, we have stepped into a new lane. "

‘’Our domestic and foreign investments will continue in 2021"

Şankaya stated that they only have more than 4 thousand employees in Bursa factories and their employment in Egypt is 6,500, and when the sum calculated, they have close to 14 thousand employees and around 7 thousand contract employees as partners. Şankaya pointed out that the ratio of female employees in Bursa facilities reached 55 percent, and stated that they strongly support the young workforce. Şankaya continued his words as follows: “In 2019, we provided an additional employment of 1,200 people at the Bursa facility. Again, in 2019, we launched a serious investment program in Egypt and established a new factory. In addition, we established a new production facility in Ağrı with state incentives. In 2019, we made a total investment of 65 million dollars, mainly in Egypt and Yeşim. We anticipate an additional $ 30 million investment in Ağrı in the upcoming period. In Egypt, we aim to reach 10,000 people by the end of 2025."
